COVID-19: Montreal extends state of emergency |BCI Media Inc

Montreal’s executive committee has extended the state of emergency on the island of Montreal until Tuesday.

First decreed on March 27 under the Civil Protection Act, the local state of emergency grants authorities exceptional powers to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, in particular by mobilizing material and human resources.

The Montréal agglomeration — made up of the city of Montreal and 15 independent municipalities on the island — is continuing to work closely with its teams of experts from the emergency coordination centre, regional public health department and the health care network, the city said in a news release on Friday.
