man is dead, a teen boy and a woman who was an innocent bystander are seriously injured after a "targeted" shooting in downtown Toronto on Tuesday afternoon, police say.
The man, 21, was pronounced dead in hospital, according to Const. Alex Li, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service. His name has not been released.
The boy, 15, and the woman, 27, are listed in serious condition and expected to recover.
The shooting happened in the area of King Street West and Peter Street. Police were called to the area at about 4:10 p.m. Officers recovered a weapon at the scene, police say.
Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders, who went to the scene, told reporters that the shooting is "very brazen" but "very solvable." He said the shooting looks like it was a "targeted situation."
"The bottom line is, there's a lot of evidence that we have gleaned so far," Saunders said on Tuesday. "We know we are getting more evidence, particularly by way of video."
Saunders said a blue vehicle waited at the scene for about 40 minutes for the occupants of another vehicle to arrive. When the other vehicle pulled up, the blue vehicle made a U-turn and people inside began shooting at people in the other vehicle.

The shooter got out on the passenger side of the blue vehicle, Saunders said. The victims ran southbound as they were being fired upon. The victim's vehicle was not left at the scene.
Then the blue vehicle went southbound on Peter Street, westbound on Front Street and northbound on Spadina Avenue.
"This is a very fresh case so we have a long way to go before we get to the finish line," he said.
Saunders said he couldn't comment on the relationship, if any, between the male victims.
He said the woman was "just standing there" when she was shot.
"By all indications, it looks like this female that was shot has absolutely nothing to do with this. Because of the suspect just shooting randomly, an innocent person was caught in that crossfire," Saunders said.
'We definitely want to apprehend these people' "When you're shooting downtown, you know you are going to cause carnage. We definitely want to apprehend these people."
Several people called police to report hearing gunshots. There were also reports of people running and screaming.

One witness told CBC Toronto that he heard six or seven gunshots and the sound of a car accelerating as it left the scene. Then he saw the injured woman.
Police have not released the ages of the two injured people.
Toronto paramedics said a fourth person at the scene suffered minor injuries that are not related to the shooting.
The person may not be taken to hospital, paramedics said.
Police said officers have recovered a weapon.
Toronto's homicide squad is expected to provide an update later.
